6v6 has a large TA feeling, I don't like it all. Second, quit whining about all the Fotms, one of the things I've seen most people whining about is b spike--IMO, the double fame and the lack of b spike cancel eachother out. Second, for those of you that say 6v6 will shake up HA and result in less fotms... just no... its all vim and smite now (not complaining) but with 6 people, even mathematically, there is less chance of new builds. 8v8 ftw.

Oh really, I can't tell if your baiting me or not.

Needless to say, I've played 14 months, my monk has been the primary charactor I've played over those 14 months, I think I more than quified to make the statements I made, I've played GvG and won lots of time, infact I've won more GvG's than HA.

I am also prot, boon/prot to be exact so tell me how do you feel looking at your health bars, and suddenly without so much as a slightest warning one of them goes from 100% to 0% dead in less than a second, not giving you the slightest chance to react?, and then by the time you've got the next one highlighted it's dead, over and over again.

That's not a fare fight, that just exploitation.

Oh really. So 1 second spikes are hard to catch? That my friend is a SS gaze b spike. It is so easy to infuse. If you can't infuse a rainbow spike or a r spike, then that's understandable, but if you can't infuse a 1 second spike, then you need practice. If you are talking about catching spike with a boon prot, then gl with that.

Default Misconceptions

There are far too many misconceptions this weekend.

PvE people who are new to PvP are seeing what is being run, and attempting to run it, with (sometimes) laughable results, for example "A/Rt lf ViMway".
"B/P ranger lfg for anything"
"Level 20 W/Mo Tank lfg, I can tank anything"

That just lets organised groups roll any disorganised pug...

This just feels like TA, plus PvE cookie cutter builds.

So far my feelings are mixed.

like:
- a lot of guildteams returning to HA. this could however be because the ladder is still frozen.
- environment being semi shaken up

dislike:
- relic runs lost their tactical play partly. bodyblocking tactics with 6 man aren't easy...
- it's amazing that VIMway has taken the place of IWAY and bloodspike so fast as the FotM that every monkey and his chimpansee brother runs.

I'm really liking the event so far. I've found myself playing *drum roll* balance. Yes this IWAY nub was playing balance, zomg! With only 6 ppl needed for a team and wayyyyy more people on, you can get a balance group together really fast. I'm impatient and anything more than 15 minutes to form a group is too much for me hence why I turned to IWAY in the first place. I'm also liking the lack of skips which also means as you progress through the maps, generally the teams you vs get more difficult, unlike before where you could fight an unranked paladinway in sacred temples or hoh, which seemed kind of odd.

Ok, I dunno about you guys but these ViMWAYs are getting on my nerves. Oh, the IWAYs? Not them, IT'S THE F---ING TRAPPERS!

Goddamn trappers trap the living Jesus out of us while the warriors say they are pwning us.

Yeh, but you never know what your going to face, while a boon/prot might be very useful in one position it isn't in another, there becomes a rock, paper, scissors event not a challane or an even battel what so ever, which means at least to me, this game is not balanced what so ever.

Can't say I've seen this myself, I've seen a lot of groups trying to go balanced and failing though, mainly due to heavy exploited gimmik builds.

I don't know quite what your aiming at here, the only problem I've found with being a boon, is getting gank by 2+ after that say good by to your monk, most people just ignore the monk like he has infinit health or something, and go over and leave him undefended.

Easy enough to counter, interupt, degen, and if there in there ball, all you need is an ele with metor, goodbye.

But that is of course if your balanced, and get a chance in hell of ever bumping into something that doesn't delete your chars in a second.

I hope I dont start a flame war or my man JR with very limited tombs experience will lock this thread. now keeping this in mind I am not gloating im just giving you guys some of my feedback after 24 hours of this even like the topic starter asks..

Now to quote this guy right here. Ill 1st start by agreeing with him that rank has lost its value do to obvious reasons which is cool.. But I am going to ask you not to speak for all "rank 9,10,11+'s" that they cannot adapt to no real understanding of builds and skill. A guild like rurik drops the soap {soap} cannot because they played vimway today at dark chambers and took their time (40 mins to be exact). Another thing I will agree with this guy is that yes many of tombs hardcore players cannot adapt to a drastick change. But not all of us. What you just said is an understatement without any research.
my intent isn't to say all ha players are scrubs and can't adapt. I respect that a lot of good guilds that I have a world of respect for such as IQ found their roots there. I simply want to point out that it isn't all that HA only players seem to think it is, as if it's the final frontier of GW PvP (when in fact it is far from it). I rarely HA, though this week, I will admit that it was the perfect opportunity to go in and give it a whirl and we have been rolling/flawlessing supposed high end ha (and gvg) guilds on a consistent basis. In fact I've gotten over 1000 fame in the last 2 days, won halls numerous times, and held as well.

Though I have very little experience in halls and the mechanics of halls, I was able to use my experience as tactical caller in GVG and TA to dominate in HA this week under a 6 man design which is foreign to all pvpers. For some reason, the only people who seem to be complaining about the 6 man format are the old boys club of HA. Everyone else adapts just fine, but throw a style of play that involves more than counting to 3 and hitting 1, 2 and suddenly the only people complaining are...you guessed it. But likewise there are some HA players who seem to like the weekend, and I feel these are the legitimate pvpers who have true skill, not the rank is everything scrubs that seem to be overflowing and spilling over the brim of the ha community.

As for the HA players who are whining in this thread, all you can seem to say is how it feels like TA and yet, can't seem to meaningfully express any reason as to why it is bad. It's a new format for all players alike. The skilled pvpers have adapted to it, you, the unskilled players have not (and that is to be expected). Deal with it.

I will also say that if HA was to remain in 6 man format, or another pvp area grew from this event, I would be there in a heart beat, because it's loads of fun. But if I have 8 guildies on, I'd just as soon go play some GVG over HA. But if and when HA goes back to 8 man like it was before using terrible skills as staples for team builds (spell breaker anyone??), then you can count me out again.

Ultimately I just think a lot of the HAers (like some of the ones in this thread) are threatened by the fact that a lot of HA newbies with no rank are able to stroll into their house for the weekend and completely show them up.

"How can that be?! He doesn't even have a TIGER!!"

cry me a river..

I basically agree 100%. I've actually been watching you guys hold halls. Like to see people from the boards, and Joan and Sno were holding for quite some time today.

6v6 is ftw. 8v8 just wasn't as much fun.

It's nice to see some of the big name guilds coming out and doing something outside of gvg. Leaving their comfort zones so you get to see their true pvp skills, and not just their gvg or TA skills.

I like 6v6 alot more than 8v8.

The question you have to ask when whining about Iway or Vimway is; - Why are people running those? Why are people playing such bad builds? You can argue, that those builds are easy to run and people know their specific role in them and i say it is because those players are just bad. If i would be in the position to be rank 0-3 i would rather run 2 restore condition monks and farm those bad players. Yes, that takes coordination and some patience in the first runs, but not less then running Vimway itself. If people chose the easy way - or what seems to be the easy way, they will never improve and always suck. Don't complain then.

Izzy may can buff skills, the true and sad thing is - he can't buff the players. And that is the problem.

originally I didn't like the idea of it because it meant 'noobs' will be getting rank 6 alot easier; making it a not-so-respected rank, but I grinded like ~400 fame yesterday so I don't mind so much

I was hoping it was going to be different enough to tempt me out of GvG every now and then

Sadly it is still largely the same as it was before. Its like playing fight after fight on burning isle against high pressure sides. Its an interesting challenge every now and then, but not fight after fight after fight. The real issue with HA has been, and remains the maps, which encourage poor positioning and poor strategic decision making and effectively mean that the fight is decided before the gates open

Changing from 8 to 6 hasnt affected this imo. Maybe it will be better once the meta settles down, but 90 minutes of this the other night turned me off it again completely despite the fact that the fame came thick and fast. Still no fun at all

That argument doesn't make any sense at all. So skilled players adapt to the situation (restore condition, mend ailment, draw conditions etc. need to say more?). I don't like the new HA so far, all though my guild has adapted their builds to it, we still miss 2 characters who give your build a more unique touch, that's why I don't like it, there are not enough available skill slots to make a real build, it's just the standard warrior, monk, dmg, shutdown. No characters in a build running some weird stuff, because there is no space for it if you want a build that can do 1 on 1, relics and altars.

So that makes me unskilled? Well, if you say so, fine, you obviously barely played 8v8 HA.

@ close to 1k fame so far, only lost 1 1v1 that wasn't a relic (only lost 1 relic >.<). Almost all loses from hoh / courtyard mostly due to dumb second teams. Vimway is a blessing... absolutely free fame.

Having played halls for months on and off I think 6v6 is basically a joke for almost all of the maps. remove halls completely if you wanna make it 6v6.... really bad call.

He did say that he has limited experience with 8 man team but w/e if he won he won...i dont have proff that he wont cuz i dont know not care who he is and he can also be lying just like anybody else in this forum for that matter...but ill agree with the guy in a few way.....the last thing im going to say in this thread unless im provoked to reply again is that those who win and are racking up fame because of all the ta/ra nobodies and high ranked guild that lost its skills in tombs because they gvg more dont whine...the losers that cant get past burial mounds get upset thats the only thing...but again u know what Van...you would like the 6 man thingy since ur not from the 8 man tombs era lol...but hey im not hating...i got my share of fame this weekend my self and rolled over many...so we cool.....just dont provoke again I really hate replying on this forum

Perfectly said.

I think this weekend has really brought out the real talent when it comes to hero's ascent. The ones that are surviving have been forced to play a new role, character, and probebly whole entire build......while the rest are simply waiting for their oppresive gaze strike to come back on Tuesday.

I found it weird that the regular halls guilds that ran balancish builds in 8 man, are still seeing the sigils flow, while some of the regular guilds that ran, bspike only, for example, can't be found.

Good luck to everyone the rest of the weekend.

Lol i hate how people just assume that all the high ranked players got there from playing gimmick builds and such and that they r losing in UW now.
Many r9+ people i know have gotten more than 2k fame so far without any bloodspike or noob builds u all claim they run.
Now i am obviously not saying that rank means everything, but plz consider that you dont know exactly how much fame others are getting, and trust me some of these players are getting WAY MORE than u have in total.
The only main difference is that holding is harder now, and teams dont set up camp in HoH and hold for ages anymore.
